Post-June 2020 BMW DME unlocking has just become faster, easier and considerably more affordable, with supported Bosch DMEs now able to be unlocked in-house at EuroWerke in Castle Hill.
This includes popular performance platforms such as the BMW G80/G81 M3, G82/G83 M4, G87 M2 and Toyota GR Supra A90/A91, along with a much broader range of compatible late-model BMWs.
For owners looking to tune these vehicles, unlocking the DME has become a familiar first step. Until now, many post-June 2020 BMW DMEs requiring a complete unlock had to be removed from the vehicle and sent overseas to specialists such as FEMTO in Finland. While this provided the access required for tuning, it also meant international shipping, extended turnaround times and a vehicle potentially sitting without its DME while the process was completed.
That has now changed.
BMW DME Unlocking - Now In-House in Sydney
Using the latest AutoTuner technology, EuroWerke can now perform supported Bosch DME8 and DDE8 bench unlocks completely in-house at our Castle Hill workshop, with no overseas mail-in unlock required.
What was previously a process measured in weeks can now be offered as a same-day service, significantly reducing both the cost and inconvenience involved. At $599 inc. GST, our in-house DME unlock also represents a saving of approximately $1,400 compared with the previous overseas process.

Why Do Post-2020 BMW DMEs Need Unlocking?
From around June 2020, additional security introduced to many Bosch BMW DMEs restricted the tuning access available on earlier vehicles. While some local solutions have previously provided access to certain areas or functions of these DMEs, vehicles requiring a complete DME unlock have traditionally needed the unit to be sent overseas.
For Australian BMW owners, FEMTO became one of the established solutions for completing this process. The significance of our new in-house capability isn’t that the tuning itself has changed; it’s that a major step required before tuning can take place can now be completed locally, removing much of the time, expense and inconvenience previously associated with the process.
Which BMW DMEs Can We Unlock?
EuroWerke can now perform in-house bench unlocking across a range of supported Bosch DME8 and DDE8 ECUs, including:
- Bosch MD1CP032 - TC299
- Bosch MD1CS001 - TC298
- Bosch MG1CS024 - TC298
- Bosch MG1CS049 - TC298
- Bosch MG1CS201 - TC298
These ECUs can be found across a broad range of compatible B48, B58, S58, N63, S63 and selected diesel-powered BMWs.
Popular applications include the BMW G80/G81 M3, G82/G83 M4, G87 M2, F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M, M240i, M340i, M440i, Z4 M40i, X3 M40i and X4 M40i, along with the Toyota GR Supra A90/A91 and selected V8-powered BMW applications.
The latest S68-powered BMW platform is not currently supported by our in-house unlocking service.

Unlock Only or Complete ECU Tuning
You don’t need to purchase an ECU tune from EuroWerke to take advantage of the new service. If you simply need a compatible DME unlocked, we can complete the standalone unlock for $599 inc. GST.
For customers looking to take the next step, the unlock can also be combined with our TUNE+ Stage 1, Stage 2 or custom ECU calibration, with tuning and dyno development completed in-house on our Mainline ProHub AWD Hub Dyno.
This gives customers the choice to simply have their DME unlocked or complete the entire process - from unlocking through to calibration and dyno testing - under one roof.
Audi, Volkswagen & Mercedes-Benz Unlocking
BMW may be the latest addition to our in-house unlocking capabilities, but it isn’t the only platform we support. EuroWerke can already unlock selected Audi and Volkswagen ECUs in-house, with our capabilities continuing to expand as support for additional European ECU platforms becomes available.
