Bench unlocking refers to the removal of your ECU and making the connection to it via the pins with a speciality tool that can unlock certain parts of the ECU. When removed it generally finds its way to a workbench, i.e. the name - Bench Unlock.
Most B58 models built before June-2020 with November 2019+ BMW software require an in-house bench unlock of the DME before tuning via the OBDII port is possible. This will require you to mail in your DME to us or book in your car for unlock to be performed. You can include this type of OBDII bench unlock with your order.
All B58 models built on or after June-2020 require the DME to be removed and sent to FEMTO in Finland before tuning via OBDII port is possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions – Contact us here.
Once unlocked a BM3 Flash Tune can be installed which allows for the ultimate tune for your B58 (F-Series or G-Series) powered vehicle. When installed, it doesn’t stop there as it is something that can be reset and changed at desire. Go from stock to full race calibration, and everywhere in between, with a map switch in the provided mobile app. Bootmod3 calibrates the factory vehicle modules over the OBD port in a matter of minutes in the convenience of your driveway or anywhere internet access is available.
