At EuroWerke, we’re no strangers to special machines - but when a BMW E92 M3 rolls into the workshop, it always commands a bit of extra attention. Revered for its high-revving 4.0L V8 (S65), the E92 M3 represents the last of the naturally aspirated M cars - a unique era of precision engineering and raw mechanical engagement. With production spanning from 2007 to 2013, these cars are quickly becoming modern classics. This particular M3 came in for a comprehensive engine bay refresh and a major scheduled service - all designed to ensure it continues performing at its best well into the future.
The S65 V8 is a masterpiece in its own right, but as these cars age, some components begin to show their wear - especially under the heat and stress of regular spirited driving. We began with the NRW Design E9X M3 S65 Plenum Boots, a subtle yet critical upgrade. The factory rubber boots that connect the intake plenum to the throttle bodies can degrade over time, creating the potential for unmetered air leaks and performance loss. The NRW silicone replacements are reinforced to handle extreme temperatures while maintaining an airtight seal - improving long-term reliability and throttle response.
Next, we replaced the original plastic valve covers with a set of NRW Aluminium Valve Covers. The S65’s factory units are notorious for cracking and warping as they age, often leading to oil leaks and poor sealing. The aluminium upgrade not only solves that issue but also enhances engine bay presentation. Complementing these were NRW’s Billet Spark Plug Tubes, which add strength and precision to a commonly overlooked area, and the NRW Valve Cover Gasket Kit, ensuring a fresh, leak-free seal all around.
With the valve train addressed, we turned our attention to the hydraulic system - specifically the power steering setup. We installed the Turner Motorsport Triple Baffle Power Steering Reservoir, a solution developed to eliminate the fluid aeration and overflow that often occurs during hard driving or track use. Its baffled internal design keeps the system stable, especially under lateral loads, helping preserve consistent steering feel and longevity of components.
We also tackled one of the more vulnerable areas of the S65: the Vanos system. The Evolve Automotive S65 Aluminium Vanos Covers are a direct upgrade over the factory cast units, which have a known tendency to crack over time. Evolve’s billet aluminium replacements offer greatly improved durability, eliminating a common failure point and giving peace of mind - especially for high-performance applications.
No E92 M3 engine bay upgrade would be complete without an intake enhancement. For this car, we fitted the premium Eventuri Carbon Fibre Air Intake System, renowned across the M community for both performance gains and striking design. Engineered to increase airflow and reduce turbulence, the Eventuri system sharpens throttle response, adds mid-range torque, and elevates induction sound - making the most of the naturally aspirated S65’s high-revving personality.
To finish off the transformation, we fitted a suite of Golden Wrench Supply Co. billet engine caps, including the oil filler cap, washer fluid cap, and coolant expansion tank cap. These components may seem cosmetic at a glance, but they serve a dual purpose - eliminating the brittle OEM plastic parts and replacing them with CNC-machined aluminium for better heat resistance, durability, and long-term seal integrity. Plus, they add a refined, motorsport-inspired look to the freshly detailed bay.
Alongside all of the above upgrades, we carried out a full major service to ensure every critical fluid, filter, and wear item was up to spec. When this M3 left our workshop, it wasn’t just upgraded - it was thoroughly maintained, tested, and ready to enjoy many more spirited kilometres.
