PERFORMANCE: STAGE 1, 2 & 3 for Toyota Supra (A90/A91)

There’s only one Japanese car we service, maintain and modify here at EuroWerke, and it’s Toyota’s A90 and A91 Supra. They’re an incredible little sport car, based off BMW’s Z4. Under the hood you’ll find BMW’s iconic B58, their most popular 3.0L 6-Cylinder Turbo engine. We utilise custom Tune+ ECU tunes for the A90 and A91.

Who is Tune+?

Tune+ is an Australian owned performance ecu tuning company. It was born due to a lack of custom tuners available locally to support late model BMW models. Frustrated with relying on US &other overseas tuners, Tune+ decided Australia needed a local tuner to get these European cars moving! With extensive knowledge in BMW Tuning, it didn’t take long for them to be lead down the path of locally developing tunes for AMG, Audi, VW, Range Rover, Toyota Supra & many other models.

It’s worth noting that all Tune+ calibrations are developed in-house, in-Australia and on a DynaPack Hub-Dyno.

When tuning your A90/A91 Toyota Supra there is three (general) stages to tuning:

• ‘Stage 1’ – Stock Application
• ‘Stage 2’ - With Supporting Modifications
• ‘Stage 3 +’ – Custom Application

Note: NGK Spark Plugs are upgraded to no matter the ‘stage’.

Below we will demonstrate these three stages with the current Toyota Supra (A90), which withholds a BMW B58 engine and drivetrain. These references below would be similar for all B58 Powered BMW*.

Stage 1: Toyota Supra A90/A91 –  Stock Application

Standard Toyota Supra (A90) with Tune+ ECU Tune (& NGK Spark Plugs).

Stage 1 opens the performance of the factory vehicle. Peak power and torque have been slightly raised in the RPM, whilst drive ability should go unchanged.

• NGK Spark Plugs
• No additional modifications made.
• Stock the Supra makes 248rwkw @ 5119RPM and 506nm @ 3064RPM.
• With a Stage 1 -Stock Application tune the power increases to a whopping 291rwkw @ 5962rpm and 581nm @ 3344rpm.
• Increasing the power 43rwkw and 75nm at the tyre!

Stage 2: Toyota Supra A90/A91 – Supporting Modifications

Toyota Supra (A90) with Downpipe, Intake, Spark Plugs and Tune+ Custom ECU Tune.

Stage 2 really takes the performance up to another level. Drive ability is still factory, but the performance is far from standard at this point. Tuning with supporting modifications has allowed for peak power and torque to be delivered sooner, lower in the rpm range. Making for more RPM of usable horsepower.

• Stock the Supra makes 248rwkw @ 5119RPM and 506nm @ 3064RPM.
• Stage 2 made: 327rwkw @ 5626RPM & 724nm @ 2979RPM
• Increasing the power 79rwkw & 218nm at the tyre!

Stage 3+: Toyota Supra A90/A91 Custom Application

Extensively Modified Toyota Supra (A90) with Tune+ Custom ECU Tune.

Stage 3 + is when the modifications are extensive. General rule of thumb is, if the fuel or turbo system has been upgraded or any internals of the engine than a completely custom tune is appropriate. The reference graph below was a track-day toy for a customer. The vehicle had a larger turbo, fuel system and ability for flex fuel(ethanol).

• Increasing the power 182rwkw & 222nm at the tyre!
