At Werke, 2024 marked the start of sharing our team members’ stories.
These reliable and skilled individuals contribute daily, each bringing a unique automotive journey to our united team. We only managed to sit down with 7, but the plan is to keep these fun articles coming through 2025. Get to know the team doing the Werke on your European Car:
Phil Jenkins, Service Manager
“If you’ve ever visited our Eurowerke Castle Hill service centre before you would have met Phil. He’s our service manager and on arrival, the smiling face you’re greeted with. But who is Phil? Well to us, he’s our Conductor, a pillar of information, knowledge and experience. But he’s also more human than just that.
As a young boy Phil can always remembering have an interest in cars, loving the shape and sounds as many children did. He was lucky to have an older family member who also shared his interests and would turn out to be quite the avid car enthusiast. Always prepared with a new question, little Phil began to learn more and more about the four wheeled metal machines that had stolen his imagination.
Fast forward a decade and Phil has now finished school, bought his first car - a maroon Mitsubishi Verada (you remember those!) and ready to take his passion of cars and turn it into a career. Opting to join Volkswagen as an Apprentice Technician his plan was well underway. He worked and studied for the next 4 years then obtaining full qualification. In his 5th year with Volkswagen, Phil decided to give service advising a go…”

Ryan McGrath, Technician Conductor
“Ryan is the conductor of our workshop and technicians. He’s the longest serving team-member we have and is a part of the foundation of Eurowerke. He was with us when there was only 2 team members and 1 car-lift, whereas now we have a team 21 strong with 12 lifts.
But first let’s wind time back, beyond the decade of hard Werke to where it all began for Ryan.
Ryan can always remember being into cars, it wasn’t something passed down or introduced to him - his affection for cars was a choice made all by himself. Even as a little boy there was something about the mechanical nature of them, how many little pieces bolted together and together they would engineer something with sound, speed, and appeal. This led to most of Ryan’s toys being engineer orientated; mostly consisting of Matchbox cars, Lego and Maccano. Lego and Maccano, it’s just like building right?”

Arthur Claro, Technician
“Arthur Junior Claro is another one of our valued Technicians. He’s a man of a very few words, but speaks loudly through his actions and reliability.
How did it all start for Arthur? It started at a very young age, remembering his dads Holden Torana. He used to love going for drives in it, or even just sitting in it whilst his dad would wash it on the weekend. But as Arthurs family grew, so did the need for a bigger car. The Holden Torana was eventually traded in and changed to a Toyota Tarago. But, lucky for Arthur he had many older cousins who had already formed a car passion, having things like Toyota Celica‘s and other souped up JDM cars.
When he got a driver’s license, that very same Tarago that replaced the Torana became his first car. With space for all his friends and for anyone that’s driven one before - not bad handling - Arthur had a lot of fun in his first car, enough to solidify a passion and ambition to pursue a career in the automotive.”

Peter Paul, Technician
“Peter Paul was born, raised and educated in Philippines - in Romblon Province. Growing up he always had an affection towards the mechanical. He loved cars, planes, boats, everything with an engine. By the time he finished high school this passion was narrowed down to Aircraft and Automotive. PP followed his gut and enrolled at the College for Technical Trades in Manila to study two trades, Aircraft and Automotive Tech.
After four long years of study and practical Peter Paul graduated and begun the hunt for his future career. During his time at college, he became more found of Automotive so headed in this direction. It didn’t take long for PP to find work, a small workshop that serviced and repaired everyday vehicles. It was near home and well, his foot was now in the door. PP began his career in the Automotive and right about around this time - he also fell in love and was preparing to be married. Wedding bells are always a good alarm, they generally force you to look further into the future - more long term. Peter Paul had a desire for more in his career, passion and future family. With this desire he began to look elsewhere, overseas.
At 22 years old Peter found work in the Abu Dhabi in the UAE, at an established European New-Car Dealer who had multiple brands under their umbrella and with one ready to welcome PP to the UAE - BMW. Peter and his wife packed their things and moved to UAE to begin their new chapter. As the dust settled…”
